Updating at last! Friday, Sept 3. Wedding Weekend - Post 1

Thursday night we left for Tybee Island. We got a late start due to having to wait until Josh got out of class, then having to load up the car, etc. I was ridiculously tired. We made it past Atlanta and then stopped at a hotel for the night. Here we are before checkout the next morning:

We had a quick breakfast downstairs where the Bipster mangled a DIY waffle:

We were so excited to get where we were going, that we weren't paying attention to the gauges and almost ran out of gas about 20 miles outside of Savannah! When we stopped to get gas, we saw a car with this sticker on it:

We had to take a photo, since it had my new last name on it. We found out later that there are gas stations in the area called "Parker's" (and we scored some stickers for ourselves before heading home).

We made it to Chatham County Courthouse and got our marriage license. I could not find my birth certificate beforehand, so I had to order another one and have it shipped to me quickly - it cost $60. Even though their website listed having two forms of ID, such as a BC and Driver's License, they didn't even ASK us for anything but our driver's licenses when we applied for our marriage license! Oh well.

As soon as we arrived in the Savannah/Tybee area, Josh said he felt like he was home, and he wants to move there in a few years, once he is finished with school and his other certifications. I am all for it! The real estate is suprisingly affordable.

We checked into our little cottage (I'll do a post about just the cottage later... it was that stinkin' cute!) and then drove around in search of lunch. Just up the road from us we found Sundae Cafe. It looks like a little hole in the wall (it's in a strip mart with a gas station and a liquor store), but the food and service are amazing! It was one place we wanted to be sure to eat at because we had heard so many good things about it online and by word of mouth.

I had the fried shrimp po' boy, and Josh had a crabcake sandwich. Both were out of this world.

We decided to do a little more driving around and that's when Josh realized he left the checkbook at home. That we needed to pay for the wedding. Luckily, there was ONE branch of our bank in the area (Savannah). So we drove to there to get what we needed, and then headed BACK to the island. We decided to find where our reception was going to be, how far it was from there to the ceremony site, etc. That means we got to make a quick (very quick) pit stop at the beach, where I was able to get my feet in the water...

Tybee Island is so stinkin' beautiful.

We went back 'home' to get cleaned up and ready for dinner in Savannah at Paula Deen's Restaurant - The Lady and Sons!

Almost-Hubbin looked pretty darn sexy.

The food was great! I had the crab-stuffed shrimp, wrapped in bacon. (sorry photos are so dark)

Chad was sitting next to me, and his Chicken Pot Pie was so enormous, I had to take a picture of it. (You can see the blur of his fork and hand to use for size comparison) I guess it shouldn't be surprising that the portions there are huge, though.

After dinner, some of us headed out to a bar on Tybee. Tim and Meredith met us there when they got into town around 11. Then most of us staggered back to our cottage and hung out on the back porch for a while. Here's LeAnn and Meredith vamping it up in the hammock:

I am not sure what time it was when we finally went to bed, but I do know I slept like a rock....

Stay tuned for the next post - the wedding day!
